Cyanotypes
One of the wonderful things about living in Arizona is the ability to create cyanotypes on a regular basis. Annually, I facilitate a photography club with children. The first project we do is cyanotype printing. The following are the examples made to demonstrate what was expected.
They were asked to take photos of textures that could be later incorporated into more complex cyanotypes and photograms. |
They were presented with silk flowers and other shapes to utilize in their solar prints. This was in preparation for photograms the following week. |
Members were challenged to incorporate a transparencey image of a pattern or texture that they enjoyed and a stencil negative. |
This was done by using a transparent image and a stencil.
These projects were very simple and were a great way to teach the youth about negatives and the effeccts of light on an image.
